Over the last eleven years Joshua Expeditions has been privileged to serve people in unique corners around the globe. By bringing student groups with hearts for missions and service, thousands of lives have been touched worldwide. There are many communities, missionaries, and churches who have been encouraged through the willingness of youth to share the love of Christ. In addition to ongoing projects from previous years, JE has committed to continue participating in the following projects:
JE will help build homes for families affected by AIDS and help provide wells for clean water for families in remote parts of Africa.
JE is committed to help supply coats and blankets to kids for the winter seasons in NY and DC.
JE will aid the people of Costa Rica by helping build a nutrition center in the marginal community of La Carpio.
This year many of our groups have blessed and been blessed by an orphanage in the small town of La Fortuna, Costa Rica. On our first visit the children were all crowded along the fence looking at the children in the neighborhood and wishing they could come out and play, but everything had changed by our last visit. This time the neighborhood children were at the fence looking in! Thanks to a very generous donation from one of our partner schools, the playground pictured here was built for the children in the orphanage. Our groups have also helped to paint the home, inside and out, and the children have new clothes and shoes that fit. The orphanage has a new laptop, printer and digital camera, and the children have new toys and games for their enjoyment. Even a seemingly small gift of tubes of toothpaste has been most important to the children; each child is so excited to have his or her own tube! The overwhelming response to La Fortuna has resulted in abundant blessings for not only the orphanage but for the children at the local public school, as well, who have benefited from extra school supplies. We know that God blesses both the givers and the receivers in Costa Rica, and your ministry really touches their hearts for Christ!
"I was hungry, and you gave me food to eat. I was thirsty, and you gave me drink. I was a stranger, and you took me in. I was naked, and you clothed me. I was sick, and you visited me. I was in prison, and you came to me… Most certainly I tell you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me." — Matthew 25: 35-36, 40
