Day 1

Board your overnight flight to Amsterdam!

Day 2

You will meet your Joshua Expeditions guide at the airport in Amsterdam then head to your hotel to get settled. Your exploration of the city will begin with a visit to the Anne Frank House which recognizes the human element of the Great War saga. A Jewish victim of Nazi persecution, Anne Frank lived in the house with her family and tried to hide from the Nazis by staying in a secret annex behind the home. The diary she kept while hiding survived to spread her story after the family was discovered and sent to their deaths in prison. Following this eye-opening experience, the group will head to the Van Gogh Museum where you will be reminded of the more artistic side of being created in God's image. Later, you will have a chance to enjoy the unique architecture of Amsterdam before the day concludes with dinner and devotions at the hotel.

Day 3

This morning you will again step back in time as you visit the town of Haarlem, location of the Corrie ten Boom House. Corrie ten Boom, author of The Hiding Place, is viewed as one of the modern heroes of the Christian faith, and you will learn much about her family's contribution to the underground effort during the war. Afterward, the group will travel south toward Brussels and have opportunity to enjoy the windmills and tulip fields that define The Netherlands. The group will stop for the night at The Hague, location of the International Court of Justice, and share a time of devotions to close the day.

Day 4

The group will travel to Brussels this morning, the capital of the European Union. You will visit the famous Grote Markt, one of the most beautiful squares in Europe, and you will have a chance to view the diminutive, but popular, Manneken Pis statue. Take some time to eat a few Belgium waffles, too! Following lunch the group will depart for Bastogne and visit its memorial before heading into Paris.

Day 5

Your first visit today will be the Louvre Museum where you will see priceless works of art, including Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo and The Winged Victory of Samothrace. Following lunch the group will head for Normandy. Upon arrival in Caen, you will enjoy dinner in the city and have some free time to explore such sites as the remains of a castle from the time of William the Conqueror. The night will conclude at the hotel with devotions and discussion.

Day 6

Your visit this morning to the Memorial Museum of Caen will reintroduce you to the events of D-Day and the summer of 1944. You will see Omaha Beach, site of the largest amphibious landing, and the American cemetery where more than 6,000 are buried. You will also visit Pointe du Hoc, where American Rangers assaulted a fortified German gun site on a cliff and which was memorialized by President Reagan in his 1984 speech at Normandy. Following these memorable tours, you will return to Caen in the evening for dinner and devotions.

Day 7

In the morning the group will depart Caen for the picturesque fishing village of Honfleur. The little seaside town is one of the best preserved ports of Normandy, and you can still buy fresh fish straight from the boats! You will have time to shop and enjoy the village before heading back to Paris, where your day will conclude with dinner and devotions.

Day 8

The group will venture into Paris today for a bird's eye view of the city from the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur. There will be time to wander among the street artists before visiting the famous Notre-Dame Cathedral, where you will have the chance to go inside and take the option to climb the bell tower. Later, the group will head over to the infamous Place de la Concorde and down the Avenue des Champs-Élysées for free time and shopping. In the evening, you will also have a chance to see the Eiffel Tower where you might opt to climb to the top! The day will conclude with devotions at the hotel. (Optional activities involving fees are not included in the price of the trip.)

Day 9

Rising early this morning, the group will board a short flight from Paris to Berlin, Germany's largest and most fascinating city. You will have a chance to view Checkpoint Charlie and the remnant of the infamous Berlin Wall, then move over to the Brandenburg Gate before climbing the steps of the Reichstag. Afterward, you will walk over to explore the Soviet War Memorial and Alexanderplatz before visiting the new Potsdamer Platz and taking some individual free time. The group will close the day at the hotel with dinner and devotions.

Day 10

A Metro trip in the morning will take the group to Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp for a sobering look at the human cost of the war. Venturing back into the city you will also visit Potsdam, the site of the momentous "Big Three" conference between Truman, Churchill and Stalin in 1945, when the partition of Germany was determined. While there you will also see Sanssouci, the beautiful palace of Frederick the Great, king of Prussia and the political and military leader who started his country on the road to dominance among the German states. Afterward, you will have free time to just relax and enjoy Berlin, including such sites as Rathaus Schöneberg, the city hall where John F. Kennedy delivered his famous 1961 speech, Ich bin ein Berliner! (I am a Berliner!). The afternoon will include a visit to Kurfürstendamm (known locally as Ku'damm), which is dominated by the bombed-out shell of the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church and its starkly modern replacement. These buildings have become symbols of Old and New Germany. The group will then take a stroll down the Unter den Linden for one last chance of shopping before returning to the hotel for dinner and devotions in preparation for the next day's departure.

Day 11

After an unforgettable look back at a timeless piece of world history, it will be time to head back home.
