Day 1

You will meet your Joshua Expeditions guide at the Richmond airport then grab some lunch before beginning your tour. The first stop will be St. John’s church, where Patrick Henry gave his famous “Give me liberty or give me death” speech. The group will then transfer to Williamsburg for dinner followed by devotions at the hotel.


Day 2

This morning the group will head toward Norfolk to visit the many nautical attractions in the city. You will take a tour by boat of the Norfolk Naval Yard, the largest in the world, and you will have a chance to see modern warships as well as historical vessels that have defended our country. In the afternoon you will visit the National Maritime Center which offers educational activities ranging from ship design to cleaning up oil spills at sea. Later, the group will visit the U.S.S. Wisconsin, an Iowa Class battleship and a veteran of the Pacific campaigns of World War II. Dinner and devotions will close the day.


Day 3

Traveling to Colonial Williamsburg, the group will enjoy an all-day educational tour that includes such sites as the Capitol building and Governor’s Palace, as well as participation in reenactments and hands-on activities about life in the 18th century. Your afternoon and evening meals will be in Colonial Williamsburg with dinner in one of the colonial taverns. In the evening, your group may choose the optional activity of taking a night tour that focuses on different themes of colonial life. Devotions at the hotel will round out the day.


Day 4

Checking out of the hotel, the group will head over to the Jamestown Settlement to learn about the first permanent English settlement in the New World. After a morning filled with many hands-on activities, you will have a chance for lunch at the Jamestown Café then head over to the Yorktown Victory Center to learn about the final battle in which America won independence from Great Britain. The tour will close with a return to Richmond for your flight home.




Optional activities can include, but are not limited to:

  • a visit to one of the many James River plantations
  • a stop at the Museum of the Confederacy and the Confederate White House in Richmond
  • an extension to Charlottesville to visit Monticello, as well as the University of Virginia
  • the Mariners Museum in Hampton Roads
  • Virginia Air and Space Center
  • a visit to Virginia Beach
