Day 1
Board your overnight flight to Denmark!
Day 2
Arrive in Copenhagen where your Joshua Expeditions guide will meet you at the airport then travel with you to the hotel. Your adventure begins with a walking tour of the city, exploring City Hall Square, Copenhagen's Old Town, the Round Tower and Nyhavn, a seaport where Hans Christian Andersen once lived. The evening will close with dinner, devotions and group discussion time.
Day 3
Following breakfast, the group will take a guided tour of Copenhagen's historical highlights. You will learn about the Danish Parliament, Rosenborg Castle, the royal residence of Amalienborg and Børsen, the city's former stock exchange, before reaching the harborside Little Mermaid statue which commemorates Hans Christian Andersen's cherished story. Your day will conclude with devotions at the hotel.
Day 4
Your tour continues today as you learn about the famed Danish astronomer during your visit to the Tycho Brahe Planetarium, then walk in the footsteps of Hamlet on your excursion to Helsingør (Elsinore). The group will then depart Denmark and sail through the night to Norway.
Day 5
On your guided tour of Oslo today, you will pass by Akershus Slott, a fortress built by Haakon V Magnusson in 1300. Later, you will contemplate the unique sculptures by Vigeland at Frogner Park, then view authentic 9th century Viking ships on the peninsula of Bygdøy. You will also visit the Kon-Tiki Museum and close the day with dinner and a walking tour of the heart of Oslo.
Day 6
The group will cross into Sweden today, transferring first to Karlstad then continuing on to Stockholm. Devotions and group discussion time will round out the day.
Day 7
After breakfast, you will enjoy a guided tour of Stockholm and see the site where Nobel Prize festivities are held. Here, you will learn about Alfred Nobel and the Nobel Prize ceremonies, and later you will head out on a tour of Scandinavian churches, including Riddarholm Church and the 700-year-old Stockholm cathedral, Saint Nicolaus Church, commonly known as Storkyrkan. You will also learn about the Swedish monarchy before your day closes with devotions and a time of discussion.
Day 8
Today you will enjoy a tour of Drottningholm Palace, as well as Stockholm's Old Town and Kungsträdgården (King's Garden). Later you will head to local shops and cafés for some free time to explore, then close the day with dinner and devotions.
Day 9
Following breakfast you will enjoy a Viking sightseeing tour* and later visit the Royal Palace. There will also be time today to visit more of the many gardens and parks located throughout the area. Devotions and group discussion time.
*Viking sightseeing tour is only available from June 25-August 5. For trips before June 25th, you will go on a covered boat tour.
Day 10
This morning there will be a final group discussion to determine which parts of Scandinavian culture can be found in your own culture, then you will transfer to the airport for your flight home.
