Day 1
Your group will fly into San Francisco, a melting pot of art culture, and meet your Joshua Expeditions guide at the airport. You will then travel into the city where you will check into your hotel and take a brief time for orientation. The remainder of the day will be spent exploring a spectrum of talent from sidewalk artists to fine gallery exhibits. The group will stop to visit places like Union Square, North Beach (Little Italy), Chinatown and Lombard Street, known as "the crookedest street in the world." Following dinner you will have the chance to meet and discuss the week’s photographic exercises, and then the day will close with a time for devotions.
Day 2
This morning you will visit the historic Golden Gate Bridge and take time to photograph this historic architectural feat. You will also be able to walk through beautiful Golden Gate Park and see Japanese tea gardens, Dutch tulips and even a herd of buffalo named after Shakespearean characters! Your next stop will be the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, housing exhibits known for their stylish use of colors and unusual materials. You will top off this exciting day with dinner at Fisherman's Wharf, home to world famous sea lions and the shops and galleries of Pier 39. Back at the hotel, the group will conclude this day with photography discussion and a time of devotions.
Day 3
First thing in the morning, your group will travel over to the Ferry Building where you will have time to photograph throughout the wonderful farmer’s market. This will be another great opportunity to work on your assignments. After an enjoyable lunch in the market, you will continue on to the famous Haight-Ashbury district, which is known for its colorful characters and fun shops. After taking time to shop and photograph the area, you will spend the rest of the afternoon with a professional photographer or touring local college departments of photography. Later, you will enjoy dinner in the city before returning to the hotel for discussion and devotions.
Day 4
This morning the group will depart for Yosemite National Park, where you will surround yourself with one of God's most beautiful living galleries of His masterpieces, including Half Dome, El Capitan and Yosemite Falls. This time will allow you to photograph in the same places where Ansel Adams discovered his passion at the age of 14 with his box camera. You will see the same sights that have gone on to inspire so many to follow in his footsteps. After this extraordinary experience, you will return to the hotel for dinner and devotions in the evening.
Day 5
Following breakfast you will visit the Ansel Adams gallery then take a morning camera walk. At midday the classroom will head outside for an informative art lesson from the Yosemite Art Center. There will also be time to visit the giant redwood sequoias in the Mariposa grove before you have some time to relax and hike in the early evening. Your final evening will conclude with dinner and devotions at the hotel.
Day 6
After an exciting journey through Northern California you will have time for a little last-minute shopping before you depart for home!
