Day 1

You will be greeted by a Joshua Expeditions representative when you arrive in Philadelphia. Following a quick orientation the group will visit Franklin Institute Science Museum, known for its use of hands-on science techniques and demonstrations, and then travel to Fairmont Park, one of the largest parks in the nation. A visit to the Philadelphia Museum of Art will allow an opportunity to do your best impersonation of Rocky as you run to the top of the steps and stand in his footsteps. The day will close with dinner in the city then check-in and devotions at the hotel.

Day 2

You will have breakfast at the hotel before heading out to explore colonial Philadelphia at Independence National Historical Park. You will see Carpenter’s Hall, Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, among other famous sites. Following lunch, there will be a chance to relax and do some shopping before the group visits National Constitution Center to witness the impact of the U.S. Constitution at work. Later, you will enjoy dinner in the city and then the Lights of Liberty show (late April-September, weather permitting). The day will close with devotions back at the hotel.

Day 3

This morning the group will travel to one of the many local mission sites for the opportunity to help the less fortunate of the Philadelphia area. In the afternoon you will head to the Independence Seaport Museum, which relates the role that shipping and sailing played in the building of Philadelphia. The last stop for today is the Edgar Allen Poe National Historical Site, famous as the house where Poe wrote his story, “The Tell-Tale Heart,” among many others. Dinner and devotions will round out the day.

Day 4

On this final day in Philly the group will head over to the Eastern State Penitentiary, known as the first modern jail when it opened in 1829. Even Al Capone was held there for a time! Afterward, you will head into the Italian market for lunch then take one last opportunity to shop and explore before the group travels to the airport for the flight home.
