Day 1
Board your overnight flight and cross the Atlantic on your way to Greece!
Day 2
After meeting your Joshua Expeditions guide at the airport and checking in at the hotel, you will begin your walking tour of Thessaloniki. Founded in 315 B.C. this city has transformed into one of Greece's most cosmopolitan cities. You will visit the country's largest church, the Church of Aghios Demetrios, as well as the Church of Aghia Sofia and the White Tower. Dinner and devotions will conclude the day back at the hotel.
Day 3
Today the group will take a day trip to Kavala where Paul first set foot on his way to Philippi in 50 A.D. Later, you will continue on to Philippi, the location of the first Christian Church of Europe, which was established by Paul, and at the end of this busy day you will return to Thessaloniki for dinner and devotion time.
Day 4
The group will take another day trip today, stopping first in Veria, one of the largest towns in the region, where you will view the bema of St. Paul, a monument to Paul. This will provide a wonderful time for teaching and discussion. After lunch, you will venture over to Vergina, the first capital of Macedon, where you will see the Royal Tomb of Philip II, father of Alexander the Great. In the evening the group will return to Thessaloniki and share dinner and devotions.
Day 5
Following breakfast, you will see a few more sights in Thessaloniki, including the agora, the Rotunda church and the ancient city walls, before heading south to Athens. The group will have dinner and devotions in Athens, the cradle of Western Civilization.
Day 6
This day will begin with visits to the ancient Acropolis, the Parthenon, the Temple of Athena and the Theatre of Dionysus, where the plays of Athenian dramatists were first performed. You will then head over to Mars Hill, the site where Paul preached to the city, and spend some time in teaching and reflecting. Later in the day you will see Hadrian's Arch, the ruins of the Temple of Olympian Zeus, and the site where the first modern Olympic Games were held. There will also be free time for shopping in the Plaka district and the Agora marketplace, along with an opportunity to browse in one or more of the art galleries in the city. This busy day will conclude with devotions at the hotel.
Day 7
Today the group begins a 3-day cruise that follows Paul's journey. First stop is the island of Mykonos. This day will be rich with culture and history as Paul's journey comes to life. Devotions will conclude the day.
Day 8
Your group’s next stop is the island of Rhodes, where Paul preached on his way back to Jerusalem. This medieval town is filled with history, as well as sites like the Acropolis of Lindos.
Day 9
On this final full day of the cruise, you will visit the island of Patmos, the very location where John wrote the book of Revelation! After some quality teaching time, you will have free time to explore before heading back out toward Turkey. Before this day concludes the group will stop in the ancient city of Ephesus and see the places where Paul lived and preached.
Day 10
As the group returns to Athens today, there will be one more stop — the ancient city of Corinth. You will have a chance to view the port where Paul set sail to continue his missionary journey, and you will see its ancient glories, especially the 6th-century B.C. Temple of Apollo and the Roman agora and odeon. In the evening the group will return to Athens for dinner and one last devotion together.
Day 11
It will be time to depart Athens with a lifetime of great memories!
