Day 1: Departure

Board your overnight flight to Budapest or Belgrade!

Day 2: Orientation

Meet your Joshua Expeditions Guide in the airport. You’ll board a private coach, do some quick sight seeing, and then continue east to Lugoj, Romania, to begin your project. Once you arrive in Lugoj, you’ll meet your missionaries and settle into your home stays (depending on the size of the group this may also be in one building or hotel). You will have time to freshen up before beginning your immersion into the Romanian culture as you meet and fellowship with the church members. Your evening will close with devotions before lights out.

Day 3: Your Experience

Your group will be assigned to a specific project before you even begin your experience overseas. These four days will be pre-planned and very efficient so that your group may complete the stage of their project. Work days may include the following: bricklaying, cement mixing, carpentry, cleaning, and painting. In the midst of this project, your group also has the option of doing an evangelistic outreach within the community, hold prayer walks in the community, or visit orphanages to share the love of Christ to the Romanian children. Each night you will stay with your Romanian family (or in the same building as a group) and experience the culture of the Romanian people and your brothers and sisters in Christ.

Day 4

Today you will continue your work project and spend time in outreach to the community.

Lugoj is a relatively poor city of 60,000 people located in south-western Romania, about 40 miles from prospering Timisoara. Most people work in agriculture, engineering or city-centre trading, but the more mobile and qualified residents are drawn to Timisoara. The city has a Baptist Church but large areas of the population live in outlying districts that have no evangelical church presence. As a result of communism, the poorest in these communities lack initiative and a focal point to move them beyond their current circumstances. The completion of a new church building will serve as a springboard for the congregation to reach its community for Christ.

Day 5

The church-building project continues today. In Lugoj, the current house church has become full with 45 people at a service, and the owner now needs the house for his own use. New premises are needed for the congregation to continue their work, and they are fully committed in prayer and to the vision of the construction of a multi-purpose building that will enable further development and allow them to reach more people in the community.

Day 6

This is the final day of your work project. You will want to take every opportunity to interact with the community and share with them the love of Christ. Romania has the third largest population of believers in Europe, but they are growing stagnant. Your work in Lugoj is an opportunity to keep building walls of truth by creating the physical walls of a Bible preaching/believing church so that its members will continue to grow in their faith and reach more people for Jesus Christ in their community.

Day 7: Depart Lugoj

After breakfast, you’ll board the private coach and head back to Budapest or Belgrade for dinner and an evening of worship, devotions and prayer.

Day 8: Journey Back Home

After 7 amazing days of serving, you’ll head back home!
