Day 1
Be sure to wear your Joshua Expeditions t-shirt when you depart your home city for Washington, D.C.! You will be met at the airport by your JE representative. Your first stop is the Smithsonian museum of your choice. The group can either go to one museum or divide up among several museums. Everyone will then head over to the National Archives to see some of the most important documents in U.S. history, including the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. You will have dinner in a local restaurant then take a walking tour around the mall of the Washington, Jefferson and F. Roosevelt memorials. Following hotel check-in, your evening will close with a time for devotions before lights out.
Day 2
Breakfast will be served at the hotel prior to your visit to the exterior of the White House, Lafayette Square and the Department of the Treasury. During this time you will have opportunities for photos and shopping with the local street vendors. Lunch will be in the city, followed by a visit to the Capitol Building and a walk over to the Supreme Court. (Optional tours must be arranged through a member of Congress.) You’ll have dinner in the city and then take a walking tour of the war memorials for World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. The evening will close with devotions at the hotel before you turn in.
Day 3
Your day begins with a breakfast served at the hotel. Your first activity of the day is a visit to Arlington National Cemetery and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier where you’ll witness the spectacle of the changing of the guard ceremony. You’ll also visit the John F. Kennedy memorial and make a stop at Arlington House. Before leaving Arlington, the group will drive by the Iwo Jima memorial, celebrating one of the most costly victories of World War II. After lunch, you will transfer to Washington’s home of Mt. Vernon. With over 500 acres to explore, the group will spend the rest of the afternoon there. Upon returning to Washington, you will have dinner in the city and then close the evening with devotions at the hotel.
Day 4
Following breakfast, the group will check out of the hotel before heading over to Capitol Hill for a visit to the U.S. Supreme Court. You’ll also visit the Library of Congress to see its great architecture, as well as a copy of the Gutenberg Bible. After lunch, the group will visit the Holocaust Memorial Museum to remember those who perished at the hands of the Nazis. Your trip in D.C. concludes with the transfer to the airport for your flight home.
