Day 1

Arrive in San Jose, Costa Rica, and meet your Joshua Expeditions guide once you pass through customs and immigration. You will transfer by bus to the hotel, then have a bit of time to freshen up and, if time permits, maybe even shop at a traditional Costa Rican market in downtown San Jose. Following dinner you will return to the hotel for devotions and a chance to share the day’s experiences.

Day 2

This is a day for high adventure! You will wake up early for an unforgettable day of white water rafting on the Pacuare, a challenging river with class three and four rapids that create a very exciting and safe experience! At the end of this enjoyable day, your group will share a time of devotion in preparation for the ministry days ahead.

Day 3

You will have the unique opportunity over the next three days to work alongside a local organization serving a very marginal community in the San Jose area. Physical and spiritual needs are great within the communities of Costa Rica, and you will be challenged to share your faith through both word and deed. These days will leave a mark on your heart forever!

Day 4

Today you may find yourself presenting children's clubs or working with the local youth. There may also be opportunities to present Christian concerts. You will maximize the talents of your group to make the most of this mission experience.

Day 5

This is your final day of concentrated outreach and community projects. Your tasks may involve light construction or you may have opportunity to work in one of the outreach programs. Every task offers a chance for evangelism as you serve the community with the love of Christ.

Day 6

This morning the group will travel to Fortuna and Mt. Arenal, one of the world's most active volcanoes. On the way, you will stop by Zarcero for a visit to a church with some very unique landscaping. Later, while in the rainforest, you will hike down to a spectacular waterfall, and in the evening you will enjoy the natural hot springs at the foot of the volcano. If it is a clear night, you may even get to see the mighty fireworks of Arenal!

Day 7

Your group will head out this morning on a jungle zip line excursion. This is an experience you will never forget as you soar through the jungle canopy and maybe even try the Tarzan swing! In the afternoon you will travel back to San Jose by way of the small town of Sarchi, where you will have some time to shop in the local marketplace. You will see painted ox carts – the symbol of Costa Rica – and browse among the many crafts offered by local artisans. You will also have the opportunity to sample Costa Rican coffee and bring some home if you like! This final evening will close with dinner and devotions at your hotel in San Jose.

Day 8

Head home after an amazing trip to Costa Rica!
