Day 1
Board your overnight flight to Munich!
Day 2
Your Joshua Expeditions guide will meet you at the airport and travel south with you to the picturesque Alps on the German/Austrian border. The group will head out first for the site of the 1936 Winter Olympic Games and take an incredible hike up Partnachklamm (Partnach Gorge). In the evening, you will enjoy a traditional dinner accompanied by a Bavarian music and dancing performance.
Day 3
These days are set aside for outdoor activities in the Garmisch region of the Alps.* The entire group will travel on a cogwheel train to the top of the steepest mountain in Europe then return down on a cable car. Afterward, you may choose to ski (equipment rental fees apply), take a hike around scenic Lake Eibsee, or simply enjoy the breathtaking views from the top of the world. The group will return to the hotel in the evening for devotions and discussion.
*All activities are weather permitting and dependent on availability.
Day 4
The group will have several options today, including a return to the mountains for more snow activities, or simply staying on the ground to enjoy the ample shopping opportunities in the area. After a long day of winter fun, you will close the day at the hotel with a time of devotions and discussion.
Day 5
This is a day for travel as the group crosses the Dolomite Mountains into northern Italy en route to the intriguing city of Florence. In the midst of the extraordinary scenery, there will be occasional stops at picturesque towns along the way, allowing ample opportunities for photos. Devotions at the hotel in Florence will round out the day.
Day 6
Today you will experience Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance. You will enjoy seeing the massive church called the Duomo, including Giotto's Bell Tower and the Gates of Paradise, and you will be inspired by Michelangelo's David when you visit the Galleria dell' Accademia. There will also be more opportunities to shop as you stroll along Ponte Vecchio and other famous areas of Florence. The evening will close with dinner then devotions and discussion at the hotel.
Day 7
In the morning, the group heads down the road to Rome! After checking into the hotel, you will head out to explore the Eternal City, including the romantic Spanish Steps and the infamous Trevi Fountain. After this quick introduction to the city, you will return to hotel for devotions.
Day 8
Bright and early this morning the group will head to the Vatican City. A highlight of your day will be going through the Vatican Museum and seeing the Sistine Chapel, home to Michelangelo's Last Judgment and other masterful works. Later, a visit to St Peter's Basilica will provide a great opportunity to discuss Catholicism and its impact on Christianity. In the evening you will enjoy another authentic Italian meal before returning to the hotel to wind up the day with devotions.
Day 9
Your tour of Rome continues today with visits to the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Pantheon, and Mamertine Prison, the traditional site of St. Paul's imprisonment while in Rome. You will also have one more chance to do some shopping and get one last bite of real Italian food before the final day of your tour comes to an end.
Day 10
After an unforgettable journey you will reluctantly depart from Rome and head back home!
