Day 1
Board your overnight flight across the Atlantic on your way to Greece.
Day 2
After you meet your Joshua Expeditions guide at the airport, you will transfer to your centrally-located hotel and begin your walking tour of Athens, the cradle of Western Civilization. You will visit the ancient Acropolis and see the Parthenon, the Temple of Athena and the Theatre of Dionysus, where the plays of Athenian dramatists were first performed. You’ll also tour the immensely popular and informative National Archaeological Museum before your day concludes with devotions and discussion.
Day 3
On your second day in Athens you will visit the Arch of Hadrian, the ruins of the Temple of Olympian Zeus, and the site where the first modern Olympic Games were held. There will also be free time for shopping in the Plaka district and the Agora marketplace, along with an opportunity to browse in one or more of the art galleries in the city. In the evening you will experience a Sound and Light show that will literally illuminate Athens past, then return to the hotel for devotions.
Day 4
Today you will head toward the city of Delphi where you will see the Temple of Apollo and the Delphi Museum. Walk along the marble Sacred Way, the road visitors have walked for millennia, then head just outside of Delphi to see the Monastery of St. Luke, a spectacular 10th century monastery. On the way you will pause at Schiste crossroads, the spot where it is believed Oedipus slew his father, and you will also visit the mountain village of Arachova, famous for its hand-loomed rugs, bags, and blankets. The evening will close with dinner and devotions.
Day 5
This morning you will head to the ancient city of Corinth, the subject of two of the Apostle Paul’s epistles. This city, known during the time of Paul for the wild lifestyles of its citizens, is now mostly famous for its ancient glories, especially the 6th-century B.C. Temple of Apollo and the Roman Agora and Odeon. After this full day, you will enjoy a time of devotions and discussion.
Day 6
On your final day in Greece you will head back to Athens and spend the afternoon enjoying a bird’s eye view of the city from Lycabettus Hill. This will be combined with some last-minute sightseeing and shopping before the conclusion of your trip!
Day 7
Depart from Athens with a lifetime of great memories!
